A private boat has two paths. With a skipper you enjoy everything with no worries; with a private RIB you drive and save. Here are the average market prices.
With a skipper on board

No licence, no worries: he drives and picks the anchorages, you enjoy the day. From around 450 to 650 euro depending on the size. The price is for the boat, so in a group the cost per head drops. The natural choice if you do not hold an Italian licence.
Drive yourselves

Up to 40hp you drive it yourselves with no licence, fully independent. From around 140 to 300 euro per day at Lipari. The freest and cheapest format for a small group or a family.

Who it suits
With children the timing has to be your own: a private boat lets you stop when you need to, with no fixed schedule and no strangers aboard.
Split among six or eight, the price for the boat becomes competitive, but with the freedom to choose every cove and every stop of the day.
An anniversary, a proposal, a birthday at sea: when the day has to be only yours, a private boat is the only possible choice.

If you drive a private RIB yourselves, it starts on average from around 190 euro per day at Lipari, with no licence up to 40hp.
