Aeolian Islands · The boat is only yours

Private boat tours in the Aeolian Islands: just your group

No strangers on board, no fixed timing. The private boat is all yours: you decide where to stop, how long to linger in each cove, when to swim and when to move on. You write the day, stop by stop.

The difference that matters

Shared or private?

A shared tour costs little but follows a fixed running order. A private one costs more, but the day is yours from start to finish. Here is what actually changes.

Shared tour

  • A seat on board, alongside other passengers
  • Route, stops and timing already decided
  • Price per person, the cheapest option
  • Little flexibility on the stops and the pace

Private boat

  • The boat only for your group
  • Free route: you decide the stops
  • Price for the boat, which you split among you
  • You stop and set off again whenever you want

The two formats

With a skipper or drive yourselves

A private boat has two paths. With a skipper you enjoy everything with no worries; with a private RIB you drive and save. Here are the average market prices.

With a skipper on board

The private boat with a boatman

500

per day, from Milazzo, for the boat

No licence, no worries: he drives and picks the anchorages, you enjoy the day. From around 450 to 650 euro depending on the size. The price is for the boat, so in a group the cost per head drops. The natural choice if you do not hold an Italian licence.

Drive yourselves

The private RIB with no licence

190

per day, from Lipari, for the boat

Up to 40hp you drive it yourselves with no licence, fully independent. From around 140 to 300 euro per day at Lipari. The freest and cheapest format for a small group or a family.

These are average market prices that we track regularly across the Aeolians: they vary by season and availability, and climb in high summer. For the no-licence RIB it pays to set off from Lipari, where there is more choice and the best prices. Get in touch for a tailored proposal.

Who it suits

Made for those who want the day to themselves

Families

With children the timing has to be your own: a private boat lets you stop when you need to, with no fixed schedule and no strangers aboard.

Groups of friends

Split among six or eight, the price for the boat becomes competitive, but with the freedom to choose every cove and every stop of the day.

Special occasions

An anniversary, a proposal, a birthday at sea: when the day has to be only yours, a private boat is the only possible choice.

Questions about the private boat

Before you book

What is the difference between a private and a shared tour?

On a shared tour you take a seat on a boat with other passengers, with a fixed route and timing: it costs little per person, but the day is the one others have decided. On a private tour the boat is only for your group: you decide the stops, the pace and the swims, and you do not share the space with strangers.

How much does a private boat cost in the Aeolians?

With a skipper, a day starts on average from around 500 euro per day from Milazzo. If you drive a private RIB yourselves, it starts on average from around 190 euro per day at Lipari, with no licence up to 40hp. These are average market prices for the boat, not per person: they vary by season and availability. Tell us about the day and we send a free quote.

Do I need a boat licence for a private boat?

It depends on the format. With a private boat and a skipper, he drives and no licence is needed. If you would rather drive yourselves, you can take a private RIB up to 40hp with no boat licence; above that power you need a licence or a skipper on board.
