Why choose it
Panarea is a tiny island, but it is the one everyone talks about. The white houses perched above the sea, the boats crowding in front of the harbour in the evening, the air of a Greek island: there is a glamorous character here you will not find on the other Aeolians, and you feel it even in the price of a coffee.
Its treasure, though, is all in the water. Around the island floats a small archipelago of rocks: Basiluzzo, Dattilo, Lisca Bianca, Bottaro, Lisca Nera and Panarelli. The sea among these islets is the clearest in the Aeolians, and you can only reach it by boat. It is the kind of place where you drop anchor, cut the engine, and understand why you came all this way.
On the south coast is Cala Junco, an amphitheatre of dark rock with emerald-green water, considered one of the most beautiful bays in the whole Mediterranean. This too is a different world seen from the sea.
